![]() ![]() The philosophical idea of omnipresence is that of exemption from the limitations of space, subjectively as well as objectively subjectively, in so far as space, which is a necessary form of all created consciousness in the sphere of sense-perception, is not thus constitutionally inherent in the mind of God objectively, in so far as the actuality of space-relations in the created world imposes no limit upon the presence and operation of God. Philosophical and Popular Ideas of Omnipresence: Thus conceived, the attribute is but the correlate of the monotheistic conception of God as the Infinite Creator, Preserver and Governor of the universe, immanent in His works as well as transcendent above them. God's omnipresence is closely related to His omnipotence and omniscience: that He is everywhere enables Him to act everywhere and to know all things, and, conversely, through omnipotent action and omniscient knowledge He has access to all places and all secrets (compare Psalm 139 ). Neither the noun "omnipresence" nor adjective "omnipresent" occurs in Scripture, but the idea that God is everywhere present is throughout presupposed and sometimes explicitly formulated. Because the power of God and what the power of God is able to do in the life of a human being. What a beautiful thing that is! And so, I can recognize that I am just a bundle of weaknesses held together by grace and not be defeated and depressed because of the resources that of God's power – incalculable power – that are now mine by grace. So, it's not that just God is omnipotent, but He unleashes that omnipotent power on His children for their good. To resist temptation? I could never do that apart from God's power. I could never do that apart from God's power. Love my dear wife, Luella, like Jesus love the church? I could never do that, but I have power – because of who God is – to desire to use my resources, to be generous and loving and kind and serving of others. In fact, your admission of weakness is the doorway to incredible resources of power because God has the ability to enable me to do things that I could never do apart from Him. He now – this God of this kind of power – now has made me the place where He lives, so I'm not left to my weaknesses. ![]() And so, His power is a huge comfort to me.īut there's more. There is no promise that He could ever make that He would, in any way, be unable to deliver. Nebuchadnezzar says, “No one can stay His hand.” No one can stop what He's attempting to do. There's no enemy that has the power to defeat Him. To know that the One who rules the universe, who created all it is, and who is now my Savior, has unlimited infinite power is such a comfort to me, there's nothing that God is unable to do.
